Gor Minasyan won Silver in the 109 kg+ Men’s Event at the 2024 IWF Asian Championships

The final day of the 2024 IWF Asian Championships gave us exactly what we wanted – an event to remember with the men’s 109 kg+ competition unfolding.

Four athletes were really pushing each other’s limits to see who would be able to finish at the top, and in the end, it was Gor Minasyan, representing Bahrain, who got the silver medal.

The Armenian-born weightlifter started the day strongly by winning the snatch event with a 207 kg lift. In the clean & jerk, he managed to snag the silver medal by lifting 237 kg. However, even with one silver and one gold medal for each of the lifts, his grand total of 443 kg was not enough to win him the overall gold medal, as he missed the top podium spot by just one kilogram.
