The Asian Championship 2024 is just a few weeks away, and we’re already seeing some of the favorites for titles and medals get into the best possible shape before the start. The competition, which will be held at the beginning of February in Uzbekistan, is one of the last chances for athletes to qualify for the Olympic Games in the summer, so it’s one of the key events marked on everyone’s calendar.

One of the athletes who can be seen gearing up for competition is Ruslan Nurudinov. In a recent video shared to his Instagram profile, Nurudinov can be seen doing a front squat with 240 kg with ease. The Uzbekistani, who will be under pressure to perform in front of the home crowd, is one of the most renowned names in weightlifting.

Competing in the 109 kg category, he is the first lifter from Uzbekistan to win a world championship and the first to win an Olympic gold medal while setting an Olympic record in the clean&jerk with 237 kg.

In the Asian Championship, Nurudinov is going into as last year’s winner and so defending his title on home soil will be his main objective, as the last big competition before Paris.
